1968 Volkswagen Type 2 Doka Four-Door Project

This 1968 Volkswagen Transporter features a customized four-door double cab and a drop-side bed finished in gray with Love Bug graphics, and is powered by a modified 1,818cc flat-four with a Gene Berg short block and Autolinea G01 dual-port cylinder heads. A four-speed manual transaxle with highway gearing directs power to the rear wheels. Service in preparation for the sale included replacement of the rear axle shafts, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, muffler, and tires. A fan belt failure and engine noise during a recent drive resulted in a subsequent inspection, which revealed the presence of internal damage and “rod knock” at higher RPMs. The pickup bed wears matte blue paint and features drop sides all around. Tan steel 14? wheels wear white hubcaps and 205/70 Hankook Kinergy ST tires with 2020 date codes. Rust and pitting are noted throughout the body. The front compartment seats three abreast on a vinyl-covered split bench seat. Equipment includes a kinked shift lever, a CD player, heater and fan controls on the instrument panel, a clock, and a spare wheel housed beneath the right seat. VDO gauges consist of a fuel gauge in a cluster of warning lights as well as an 80-mph speedometer with a five-digit odometer showing 84k miles.
