Description
This 1961 Jaguar XKE is an early left-hand-drive, flat-floor Series I coupe that was completed on September 28, 1961, and distributed through Jaguar Cars, New York. Power is provided by a numbers-matching 3. 8L DOHC inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes triple SU carburetors, split chrome bumpers, an aftermarket exhaust system with quad outlets, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15? knock-off wire wheels. Originally finished in Cream, the body is covered in worn white paint with gray primer on the bonnet. 15? chrome knock-off wheels are wrapped in 205/70 Dunlop SP40 A/S tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors, and the four-wheel independent suspension utilizes torsion bars up front and coil springs at the rear. The interior has been partially disassembled and features a driver’s seat upholstered in black as well as a black dash pad. The removed passenger seat will accompany the car and is pictured in the gallery. The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Auxiliary gauges for water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are mounted in the center of the dash.
