Description

This 1986 BMW Alpina B10 3. 5 shows just 56,151 kilometers (34,890 miles) and was special ordered new by a collector in Japan. The selling dealer acquired the car directly from him and imported it to the US in April 2017. The B10 3. 5 replaced the B9 in 1985 and remained in production for three years. This B10 is now offered with a complete service file from new, the original manuals and booklets, factory tools and safety kits, a large spares package, and a clean California title. The exterior features heavily revised front and rear spoilers, upgraded front lighting, special badging, and body-side decals. This car was serviced by one specialist company until being imported to the US and is believed to retain all of its factory paint and panels. The B10 3. 5 utilized a specific Alpina-Bilstein suspension system with progressive springs and gas-pressure dampers. 16â?³ Alpina alloy wheels carried 205/55 series tires at the front and 225/50s at the rear. Brakes were updated ventilated discs with unique calipers at all four corners. The revised interior features bolstered Recaro sport seats front and rear, a Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel, and high-quality carpeting, mats, and headliner material. In these pictures the interior shows well for its age, with some wear present on the driverâ??s outer bolster and thigh support. All features and accessories are reported to be in working order, while the dashboard is free of cracks or discernible wear. The 56,151 kilometers (34,890 miles) displayed on the odometer are corroborated as correct based on records from new. A plaque mounted on the center console states that this car is number 22 built, which is also displayed in the last two digits of its VIN. The engine is based on the BMW 3. 5-liter inline-six. Alpina added high-compression Mahle pistons, connecting rods, and a specially prepared crankshaft. The camshaft was replaced with a unique design that optimized low-end torque, while both ignition and fuel injection timing were revised to match the new internals. A modified cylinder head, combustion chamber, and freer-flowing exhaust system allowed the motor to produce 261 horsepower when new, enough to propel the car to a top speed of 155 mph. The Alpina chassis plate can be seen above. Service documentation and records from new are included in the sale along with a large number of spare parts and service items in boxes as shown in the gallery.
