1968 Datsun 510 Race Car

This 1968 Datsun 510 race car was first listed on BaT in 2019 and then bought by the selling dealer in 2021. It was subsequently rebuilt to compete in the B-Sedan class, and work included repainting the body, overhauling the suspension, reworking the cockpit, installing a Rebello-built L18 engine, a 280ZX five-speed manual transmission, a Cusco limited-slip differential, and Koni/QA1 adjustable shocks, and replacing the gauges, fuel cell, driveshaft, U-joints, brake hoses, wheel bearings, and tie rod ends. This 510 race car is now offered in Colorado with a bill of sale. The car was repainted in dark blue with a white engine bay and interior following the selling dealerâ??s purchase in 2021. Over 150 photos of the build process are provided in the gallery. The suspension and brakes were overhauled following the 2021 auction. Work included returning the rear cross member to factory specification, repairing and reinforcing the front subframe, repairing the front control arms, sandblasting and powdercoating the suspension components, converting the rear brakes back to drums, installing adjustable Koni front shocks, adjustable QA1 rear shocks, and upgraded sway bars, and replacing the brake lines, wheels bearings, and tie rod ends.
