Description
This Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 1,020 fastback versions built for the 1968 model year and was manufactured on December 11, 1967 before being delivered to Hemphill-McCombs Ford in San Antonio, Texas. The car was refinished in Acapulco Blue over black knitted vinyl by GMP Cars of Novato, California between 2011 and 2012 before being purchased by the selling dealer in 2015. Power is provided by a 428ci V8 mated to a four-speed manual transmission, and additional equipment includes power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, a fold-down Sport Deck rear seat, and an aftermarket steering wheel. The GT500 was added to the Shelby American lineup in 1967 and retained much of its initial styling for the 1968 model year, including an elongated fiberglass hood and nose extension, a fiberglass trunk lid with a ducktail spoiler, and air scoops on the sail panels and fenders. Design changes for 1968 included more-forward placement of the functional hood scoops, a revised grille opening with square fog lights, and Thunderbird-style taillights. A walk-around video is provided above. White Le Mans stripes complement matching rocker accents. Bright wheel lip moldings came fitted from the factory. Aluminum 10-spoke 15” wheels are wrapped in 235/60 Goodyear Eagle G/T white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted steering as well as front disc and rear drum brakes, and has been fitted with adjustable Koni shock absorbers.
