Description

This 1950 Dodge Power Wagon is a first-series B-2PW model that was converted to a fire truck by Coast Apparatus of Martinez, California, and was reportedly stationed at the former Lawrence Radiation Laboratory in Berkeley Hills, California, in the 1950s and 1960s. The body, frame, and axles have been refinished in red, and power is from a 230ci L-head inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a fire service body, an engine-driven water pump, a rear belt pulley, a hose reel, a siren, diamond-plate running boards, and 16â?³ steel wheels. The fire service body has a water tank, a hose reel and rubber hose, bright grab handles, diamond-plate running boards, and Coast-branded step pads on the rear wheel arches. An engine-driven Champion 300-GPM water pump is mounted ahead of the grille, and other equipment includes a Sterling Model 20 siren mounted on the left-front wheel arch, a PTO-driven rear belt pulley, two discharges, and front spotlights. Body-color 16â?³ steel wheels with gold accents and silver rims are mounted with 9. 00-series STA tires. Stopping power is from power -assisted drum brakes. The open cab houses a bench seat upholstered in black vinyl along with diamond-plate floors, a work light, a glove box, and water pressure gauges. The three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of an 80-mph speedometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage.
