Description

1966 Lincoln Continental Coupe ~Has been in storage for the last 32 years ~Original dual matching black plates issued with the car 53 years ago 1966 Lincoln Continental Coupe. This car is a true survivor and looks like it did in 1966 when it was driving off the lot at Hernandez Lincoln Mercury in Hayward,CA. What is even more remarkable is the very same paint is on the car that was on it in 1966 driving off of the lot at Hernandez Lincoln Mercury. For the last 53 years this Lincoln coupe has resided in the San Francisco bay area This 66 Continental is an authentic chapter of American automobile history detailing when cars had class and elegance and were built with an emphasis on quality and integrity. They simply don't make cars like this anymore, and it is very likely you will never find another 1966 Lincoln Continental like this anywhere. There is something about "original" that can never be replaced or duplicated. You cannot just go out and buy another 1966 Lincoln like this one, with this kind of originality they are only original once. 1966 was a pivotal year for Lincoln, for the first time since 1960, a two-door hardtop version of the Lincoln was produced, but because this wasn't just any coupe, Lincoln dubbed it "Coupe." Cadillac had offered a two-door hardtop ever since the debut of the Coupe de Ville in 1949. Lincoln wanted to recapture some of that market, claiming for itself drivers who might otherwise end up buying a Cadillac. A simple horizontal-bar front grille emphasized the vitality under the hood and gave, as Lincoln put it, "a bold forward thrust to the look of the 1966 Lincoln Continental." It was the understated power of the fresh design that spoke of elegance and luxury to anyone who saw it. Lincoln simply claimed that the 1966 was "America's most distinguished motorcar."The 1966 model year saw major changes at Lincoln. The sharp new design was approved and brought into production with a new 340-horsepower, 462-cubic-inch V-8 engine lurking under a longer hood. In 1965, the 430-cid engine, which dated back to 1958, cranked out 320 horses. A new integral AM Radio with StereoSonic Tape System played pre-recorded tapes through 4 high fidelity speakers. True stereo separation was achieved with separate front-rear and side-to-side balance controls. The unit was located in the instrument panel. The 1966 Lincoln Continentals were fresh, powerful, quiet, and smooth. Which is everything a luxury car buyer could have possibly wanted in 1966, and they are still very popular among Lincoln enthusiasts and collectors today. Cosmetically this Lincoln is stunning, the 53 year old Artic White paint does not show its age what so ever. When properly stored you can see the Lincoln difference in quality of this car aging like a fine wine. The paint shines beautifully with no thin areas. The body is straight and solid with no rust or dents. The chrome shines nicely again with no rust or imperfections. The original Ford Motor Company "FoMoCo" lights all work like they should. All the glass is original with no cracks. All the chrome trim and emblems are original and nothing is missing. The hubcaps are in good condition.
