Description
A recommissioning was carried out after the carâ??s arrival in the US, including a rebuild of the 982cc 10A rotary engine with upgraded apex seals. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the clutch hydraulics have been refreshed along with the brake system. Additional work since importation included rust repair in the rocker panels, rebuilding one of the axles, and upgrading the fuses to glass-tube types. The Cosmo was introduced as a concept at the 1964 Tokyo Motor Show before full production began in 1967. Steel 14â?³ wheels feature polished hubcaps and wear Vredestein Sprint Classic tires showing 2017 date codes. The Cosmoâ??s braking system is not power assisted and features discs up front and drums out back. The fender-mounted side mirrors have been replaced with non-original units, and the two â??Aâ?s in the rear Mazda badge are incorrect replacement items. The right-hand-drive cabin features black vinyl over the seats, door panels, and dash, and the floors are lined with contrasting red carpeting. The wood-rimmed steering wheel has been fitted with a perforated wrap. Instrumentation includes a 250-km/h speedometer and 9k-rpm tachometer, as well as a clock and gauges for fuel level, amperage, and oil temperature.
