Description

This 1987 Ferrari 328 GTS is a stock example that has seen routine professional service over its 28k miles. Built in October 1986, it was originally sold in Illinois and stayed there until 2006, where it won multiple Ferrari Club of America awards at local shows. Mileage and regular maintenance are supported by an extensive documentation file that dates to 1992. A handful of rock chips and light swirl marks are visible in the photos below.Panel fit appears good and body-colored bumpers and black trim are smooth â?? the car has never been in an accident according to the clean Carfax report. Staggered flat-spoke magnesium Cromodoras wear Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber and include a matching spare with intact warning card. The GTS black vinyl targa top remains in good condition, as does the optional spoiler. Windows, quad taillamps and marker lenses look clear.Tan leather presents well inside, showing a light age-related patina on the seats and console. The dash appears to be free of cracks in photos, and both door panels fit well with springloaded pockets staying shut. Tan floor mats protect factory red carpets. The stock leather-wrapped Momo steering wheel is in good condition. Other controls include separate heater and fan controls for each passenger.Everything works as it should according to the seller, though the clock is missing its adjustment knob. A period Blaupunkt New York cassette deck looks at home in the center stack, and Veglia gauges are clear throughout. The 328â??s 3.2-liter transverse-mounted V8 had four valves per cylinder and was good for 260 horsepower and 214 lb.ft. of torque for the US market. In addition to oil changes, records indicate the car had more major services in 1993, 1996, 2003, 2006, 2010, & 2015. The engine bay is generally clean and in good order, and the seller is not aware of any deferred maintenance that needs to be addressed.Underneath, the Type F106 chassis used unequal-length wishbone suspension and unassisted rack and pinion steering. Running gear looks solid as do fiberglass and steel panels, though some evidence of fluid leakage is present.Records go back to 1992 though there is a gap from 1987-1992. Several major services are documented, the most recent of which occurred in the spring of 2015.A number of minor services and annual fluid changes are are also indicated, the last being in December 2015. The sale includes manuals, the factory tool and jack kits, and a cover for the removable top.Filed under: 328
