Description
This 1970 Jaguar XKE 4. Powered by a 4. The car was repainted its original Light Blue in the 1980s and retains its factory look. The finish has held up well, with good shine and no obvious color variations or signs of damage. The car rides on original 72-spoke painted wire wheels, with Redline tires and tubes added in 2011. Panel fit is good, with tight seams and consistent alignment. Brightwork has no notable scratches or hazing. The wood-rimed wheel with E-Type center push is in nice shape, as are the dash and other interior surfaces. The 4. 2L twin cam inline-six is reported to be the original unit (#7R9137-9) and is currently fitted with dual non-emission Zenith-Stromberg carbs. The 4-speed manual is shifting smoothly through all gears, with no whining or unusual noises noted. A Ray Davis aluminum alloy radiator was installed in 2011, and the two fan motors were repaired at that time. A new fuel tank, fuel filter, and hoses were also installed as part of the major refurbishment. Suspension work in 2011 included a full disassembly and replacement of all wear items. Updates included new upper/lower ball joints, front wheel bearings, link bushings, and front shocks, along with a steering rack rebuild using uprated mounts. The floor pans, rockers, and suspension components all look solid. Included were rebuilds of the master cylinder, brake booster, and clutch slave cylinder. This Vehicle Information Record provided by Jaguar shows the car was built in November 1969 and delivered in Light Blue. Filed under: e type, e-type
