Description

This 1974 BMW 3. Power comes from a stroked Korman-built 3. 3-liter inline-six that reportedly makes 250 horsepower. The car was also fitted with a heavy-duty clutch, short shifter, and an upgraded suspension. All work was performed by Korman over 168 hours at a cost of $30k. The car was driven sparingly post-refresh, which his supported by a receipt for removal from storage by Korman just prior to sale in 2009. This 3. 0CS is offered on consignment by the selling dealer with a service records back to 2001, the original window sticker, and a clean Colorado title. The Baikal Blue Metallic is an older repaint that shows some small nicks and dings, as well as a line of checking on the passengerâ??s door. Pinch welds on the passenger rocker panel show visible rust aft of the front wheel. 14â?³ alloy wheels wear Michelin Harmony All-Season tires dating to 2008, and car retains US-market bumpers and side markers. A small dash crack can be seen just left of the instrument binnacle, and the wood veneers show flaking in several places along the dash and door trims. Door panels show some chrome trim adhesion issues, and the bottom of the steering wheel displays wear. The tan upholstery has been redone in the front, with leather closely matching the original rear seat. The A/C does not blow cold, and the blower motor chirps at low speeds. A contemporary Blaupunkt CD/MP4 player replaces the original head unit. The odometer gears were replaced in 2009, though the 40k indicated miles are believed to be close to accurate. The original 3. 0-liter M30 inline-six was removed and given a Stage 2 rebuild by Korman Automotive in 2001. Displacement was increased to 3. 3-liters, and the internals were balanced and blueprinted with lightened rods, a Schrick 282 camshaft, and a ported and polished head. The trio of Weber DCOE carburetors have been re-jetted for high-altitude operation and feed the motor through a polished and port-matched intake. Recent maintenance included replacement of the valve cover and oil stand gasket, with an added adaptor for spin-on oil filters. Shifting is accomplished with the stock 4-speed manual transmission, which has been fitted with a lightweight flywheel, heavy-duty clutch, and short-shift kit. Korman Roadsport Suspension includes Bilstein shocks, stiffer springs, and larger sway bars. The trunk flooring panels and lid liner are present, the tool kit is complete, and the spare tire and jack remain with the car. A layer of undercoating and some surface corrosion can be seen on underside components. Service records date back to the 2001 refurbishment. Filed under: e9
