Description

This 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS is a well-documented example in classic Rosso Corsa over tan leather with 18k miles from new. Built in October 1987 and sold new in Jackson, MS, the car is said to be almost entirely original with no modifications from stock. The selling dealer is experienced with 3Ã?8 series Ferraris and describes this example as free of typical issues and one of the nicest heâ??s come across. The last major service occurred in June of 2013 and included new timing belts, seals and ignition parts as detailed below.Rosso Corsa paint is said to be original with the exception of the hood and left front fender, where the refreshed paintwork is reportedly undetectable to the naked eye. The finish exhibits a smooth gloss over straight panels, and chips and scratches appear to be at a minimum. Slight masking flaws are visible on a section of the inset black beltline stripe on close inspection. Black trim looks clean and straight with slight distortion in the lower rear grille.Exterior cladding appears undistorted throughout though the rear bumper cover is raised slightly on one side. Stock 16â?³ magnesium five-point wheels are in good condition with minimal rash and wear Bridgestone Potenza RE11s fitted in January of 2015. There is no evidence of accident repair according to the seller. Retractable headlights function well and sit flush when closed. Other lights and lenses appear clear and undamaged, including the often-cracked fog lights mounted in the lower valance. The black vinyl targa top and matching roof spoiler are in good condition.Connolly leather seats have reportedly never been re-dyed and still look supple and free of noticeable bolster wear, showing only light creasing up close. Stitched dash, console and door covers appear free of splits, distortion or notable wear. Top cover snaps remain firmly set in the Wilton wool carpeting. An aftermarket floor mat is present in the driverâ??s footwell but a stock item is included in good condition.Plastic switchgear is in good condition including the often-cracked headlight switch on the steering column. The factory Momo wheel and shift knob show light use and other controls and lighting are said to function properly. The speedometer was recently repaired to correct a jumpy needle.Auxiliary gauges include a working clock, while a dealer-installed Aiwa flip-down cassette player is present underneath. The air conditioning system received a new compressor, receiver/dryer, expansion valve and charge with R12 refrigerant in 2011 and is said to work reasonably well given its inherent limitations. The rear trunk area retains a clean-looking cover with a properly functioning zipper.Just ahead, the well-detailed engine bay is home to the original transverse 3.2L 32-valve V8 which was factory rated at 260 horsepower and 231 lb. ft. of torque in US trim. Maintenance is described as up to date, with the last major service in June of 2013 at 16k miles by Ferrari of Scottsdale at a cost of just under $10k.The work performed included replacement of the engineâ??s timing belts along with a host of gaskets, seals, filters, ignition parts and more detailed in invoices visible in the gallery below. The car is said to drive well, with its five-speed transmission shifting smoothly into second gear without double clutching even when cold.Extensive resealing was performed in the 2013 service, and slight oil seepage is noted but not heavy enough to leave spots on the garage floor according to the seller. The undercarriage is detailed in several photos below. The clean Carfax report above shows regular passing of emissions inspections and steady mileage accumulation over the years.A binder full of invoices indicates timely maintenance and a detailed service history, a condensed version of which is visible in the gallery below. Original accessories are complete aside from the factory tool kit and include a top cover, spare and jacking tools, full set of keys, car cover, and nose cover. An ownerâ??s manual and stamped early service book are also present.Filed under: 328
