Description

Power is provided by a Barry Allenâ??built 5. 0-liter AMC V8 paired with a four-speed T-10 manual transmission. The body shell was stitch welded, and the car is fitted with a custom cage and subframe connectors. Other modifications include custom control arms and spring perches, four-piston Kelsey-Hayes brake calipers, a 9â?³ rear end with two gearsets, and more. Prior to being repainted the car was stripped to bare metal, the body shell was stitch welded, and custom frame connectors were added for rigidity. The car was repainted in the red, white, and blue scheme used by AMC Trans Am racers under Roger Penske. Factory bumpers have been retained, and a set of air ducts replace the headlights. Suspension modifications include custom front lowering blocks, large-bearing spindles from an AMC Matador, reinforced camber-adjustable control arms with improved ball joints, and suspension roller bearings. A set of customized Ford Mustang spring perches were used to allow use of standard-size springs, and the strut rods were modified for easier alignment changes. A walk-around video is viewable above.
