Description

This 1979 Dodge Li’l Red Express was previously refurbished and modified by Dave Koffel, an original design engineer for the model. The Mopar V8 is fitted with a Barry Grant four-barrel carburetor, aluminum cylinder heads, a Team G intake manifold, and electronic ignition, and power is routed to the rear wheels through a modified 727 three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in red with a wood-trimmed bed and gold graphics, the truck is also equipped with a custom exhaust system, a Turbo Action Racing shifter, electronic ignition, 15? Weld Racing wheels, and a 26-gallon fuel cell. The Li’l Red Express was based on the Dodge D100 and produced for the 1978 and 1979 model years. A handful of photos from the refurbishment are viewable in the gallery. Red-finished 15? Weld Racing wheels with polished lips and centers are wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires sized 225/60 up front and 275/60 in the rear. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The cab is equipped with a red vinyl bench seat as well as a color-matched dashboard, carpets, and door panels. Amenities includes three-point seatbelts for the driver and passenger, climate control, an AM/FM radio, and a custom mount for the Turbo Action Racing shifter. A signature from Dave Koffel is present in the passenger door jamb.
