Description

This 1960 Lotus Elite is a left-hand-drive Series II that was imported by Jay Chamberlain via California and has reportedly been registered in Missouri since new. The car was restored about a decade ago by Premier Motorsports of Kansas City, Kansas, and work included a repaint in the factory lavender color and reupholstering the cabin. The original 1. 2-liter Coventry Climax engine was also rebuilt, as were the four-speed gearbox and rear end. Additions include a stainless steel fuel cell, upgraded oil cooler, Monza-style fuel filler cap, NACA duct on the hood, and aluminum front brake calipers. The selling dealer states that a fluid change and battery replacement were performed in preparation for the sale. The Eliteâ??s fiberglass bodywork was designed by Peter Kirwan-Taylor and aerodynamicist Frank Costin and manufactured by the Bristol aircraft company. Modifications performed at that time included installing a Monza-style fuel filler cap and a hood with a NACA duct. Close-up photos of the finish, trim, and lenses can be viewed in the gallery. Knock-off 15â?³ wire wheels wear 155-series Pirelli Cinturato P3 tires.
