Description

This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is a stock, late C1 powered by its factory 327ci/300 V8 which was refreshed 5,000 miles ago. A 4-speed manual transmission and Positraction rear end are also equipped. Stamped steel wheels wear polished factory faux-knockoff covers and modern whitewall radials. Lighting for late C1 Corvettes was a mixture of the exposed quad headlamps of earlier cars and the four-taillight rear end from the incoming C2. The white convertible soft top has a clear plastic rear window, and reportedly fits well aside from a small gap between the rear seal and deck lid. No factory hardtop is included. The passenger-side carpeting has been replaced in its original olive color due to a formerly leaky heater core, and the remainder of the new carpet kit is also included. Factory instrumentation is all accounted for, though the fuel gauge sender is currently inoperative. The trunk retains factory-style liners along with an older whitewall spare, which is removed for photos to show condition of the tire well underneath. The 327ci/300hp V8 underhood bears a block number matching the chassis tag as shown in the gallery. It was reportedly rebuilt approximately 5k miles ago around the year 2000 with an. 030 overbore and new pistons, rod and main bearings as well as new factory camshaft and lifters. A stock distributor with ignition points is retained under the polished ignition shield along with a factory generator, air cleaner, and Harrison radiator and overflow tank. A 4-speed manual transmission sends power to a 10-bolt Positraction rear end that most likely has a 3. A welded upper control arm from the accident mentioned above has since been changed for a new item. New wheel cylinders and brake linings have been fitted for the four-wheel drum brakes, and a conversion has been made to modern tapered roller bearings. Photos are provided to give a general idea of underside condition, and surface corrosion is described on brake backing plates. The most recent service in late March included an oil and filter change along with greasing of all joints. Some invoices from the engine rebuild are also available. Filed under: c1
