Description

This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette was built into a Greenwood widebody race car in the 1970s, and is believed to have been campaigned by Rick Mancuso and Burt Greenwood as a Greenwood team car during 1975. The car was subsequently purchased by SCCA racer Art Shiri, who campaigned the car through 1979, and the car continued to be used in competition with two different body configurations through 1988. Power is provided by a 454ci V8 built by Paolo Engine Service in Oregon and mated to a modified Tex Racing four-speed manual transmission. Additional modifications include four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with custom pads, an Eaton limited-slip differential, and updated safety equipment. Since completion the car has participated in a single test session and SVRA race weekend. Upon its initial conversion the car was equipped with a roadster-style Greenwood widebody wearing the team’s stars and stripes livery. The car was rebodied twice, first with gold roadster bodywork and later with red fastback coupe bodywork, with the front and rear clips being replaced multiple times. The bodywork was returned to its early Greenwood-style configuration with removable fiberglass components finished in white with red, white, and blue graphics similar to those worn by Greenwood team cars in the 1970s. 15? wheels measure 10? wide up front and 11? at the rear and are mounted with Hoosier TD S grooved tires. Braking is handled by Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers with custom Cobalt pads acting on ventilated discs.
