Description
A recent service included the replacement of many small parts and wear items, and the fluids have been flushed, the brakes have been serviced, and the fuel system has been cleaned. The car is optioned with electric overdrive and leather seats and is sold in Ottawa, Canada with a clear title. The car has been repainted roughly 30-years ago in Ice Blue Metallic over white, and has faded to a matte sheen throughout. The white coves are believed to have been added during the repaint, but the blue is echoed on the frame rails and is thought to be the original color. The glass and headlights appear clear, and plastic lenses show light hazing but are uncracked. The swing-away luggage rack was mounted during the repaint, and holes for an earlier piece are visible on the trunk lid. The dark blue convertible top shows no evidence tears, though the vinyl rear window has yellowed over time. A factory tonneau cover is included. The 72-spoke 15â?³ chrome wire knock-off wheels are older replacements for the OEM painted-spoke wheels, and have maintained a good finish. The Healey spinners show some pitting and corrosion. Tires are 65 SR 15 Michelin XZXs of unknown vintage. A painted-spoke wheel is included as a spare, along with the knockoff mallet. The hard finishes present well with an even varnish on the walnut veneer, and metal bezels and accents remain clean. The odometer reads 23k-miles but actual mileage is unknown. The 2+2 interior was optioned with leather seats, but the leather upholstery is worn and cracked in places. The console, shift boot, and door panels appear to be in good shape. The carpets show little wear and are likely not original to the car. The 2912cc inline-six is believed to be original and is equipped with the AEC 096 cylinder head. The car was recently given a tune-up and fluid flush, including a full cleaning of the fuel system. The BJ8 was the most powerful of the big Healeys, rated at 150 horsepower from the factory, due to a redesigned valve train and twin SU 2â? HDB carburetors, which have been recently synched. The 4-speed manual transmission has a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive unit operated by a dash switch. Though many areas show oxidization from missing paint, there is very little rust visible. Gallery pictures show suspension components pre- and post-cleaning. Major systems were inspected during servicing, and the bushings were greased throughout the suspension. The front and rear brakes were serviced and two wheel cylinders were replaced. The exhaust was replaced at some point with a stainless system emulating the factory components.
