Description
This 1993 BMW M5 Touring is one of 891 built and one of an estimated 25 legally imported into the US. Largely hand built on October 23rd, 1992 and sold new in Germany shortly afterward. The sale includes a two-inch thick binder of receipts totaling more than $20k, with some work carried out by Korman Autoworks. Overall this looks like an impressive example built to a great factory specification.Paint is believed to be mostly original apart from a few small areas where touch-ups are visible. Recently fitted OEM replacement trim parts included new door handle surrounds, grille inserts, M5 Touring-specific license plate well blackout panel, rubber side strips and more. Inside the tailgate, all plastic trim and both main tailgate and window struts are new as well. Yellow corner lights are new, and a set of clear lenses are included separately. The Nurburgring Package consisted of ZF Servotronic speed sensitive steering, a thicker rear sway bar (20mm on Tourings, 19 on sedans), wider 17â?³ x 9â?³ inch wheels with 255/40ZR17 tires and a control switch for Adaptive M Suspension which allowed EDC shocks to be locked in their firmest position. Tires are new Michelin Sports in front and Pilot Sport AS2s in rear. Flaws are limited to a couple very small spots where the roof railsâ?? finish is peeling, a dime sized area on the roof where clear coat is peeling, and a few minor paint scratches. The wheels which could be refinished if the new owner wanted to take it to the next level.Optioned with expensive and extra-thick Buffalo leather, the interior is largely original apart from an Mtech II 370mm steering wheel, and armrest/storage box.  Electric seat adjustments and heating elements work well, and the on-board computer is fully functional with no dead pixels or check control messages. A UUC short shifter has been fitted, all instrument panel lights have been replaced and a new EDC control switch has been fitted as well. Floor mats are new.A/C blows cold, all instruments, lights and switches work as designed and the fully functional climate control features a new microfilter and blower fan. Additionally, the 180 MPH speedometer-equipped instrument panel is original per its coded VIN tag, the seller adding that its displayed 121k km (~75k miles) is believed accurate as supported by included maintenance paperwork. The original luggage cover is included as well, and underneath the cargo floor rests a full size OEM spare and rare spare tire gas charge can. Flaws include a headliner that is drooping in a few places, a faulty left rear window regulator and rear door panels that are beginning to pull away at their tops.Imported to the US in 2004, the car was then Federalized by JK Technologies. Spare parts include most replaced original parts as well as a two inch thick binder of receipts, with much of the more recent work handled by Korman Autoworks or Eurotech, both well-respected BMW specialist shops. Both an English language European market ownerâ??s manual and US region ownerâ??s manual are included as well, the latter with its original storage pouch. Recent suspension work included fitment of a new front left EDC shock (the last in BMW inventory worldwide) and a rebuilt front right.  Front springs, upper strut mount and control arms are all new as well. Rear springs, bushings, upper mounts, pitman arms, sway bar end links, subframe bushings and self-leveling suspension reservoirs and lines are fresh, too. Brakes run all new new pads, rotors, splash shields and stainless lines. All fluids are new and the new owner can drive it across the country tomorrow.
