Description

This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300SL is a European model that has been US federalized and shows just 1,894 miles. The car is finished in Champagne Metallic over Tan leather upholstery with a black convertible top and factory hardtop. Mechanicals have been left stock throughout with the exception of a new QuickSilver exhaust system. The M103 3. This 300SL was purchased new from Itra Mercedes-Benz of Madrid, Spain by Mr. & Mrs. Polo, who used the car for short weekend trips. They later moved to Paris for a short period where they drove it a few times until the Spanish plates expired. No French plates were registered, and the car remained in garage storage until it was exported to the US in 2000. It spent a year at Wallace Environmental Testing Lab in Houston, Texas and was federalized before it was transported to its new home in Minnesota. Again, the car was sparingly driven to charge the battery and occasionally taken to a country club. Mrs. An included dossier records the described history. The exterior of this car is noted to be preserved in near-new condition throughout with a straight body, clean trim, and excellent brightwork. Champagne Metallic paint is original aside from a repaint on the passenger side fender with blending on the hood after being damaged during the federalization process at Wallace Labs while the car was parked. Original 15 alloy wheels are wrapped in matching Dunlop SP Sport tires with a few curb marks shown. Tan leather upholstery is clean throughout, with no detectable wear shown in photos. Claimed-original carpets, door panels, trim, and switchgear all present nicely, and the car has been left completely stock down to the factory radio. The dashboard and wood veneer accents are crack-free. The factory VDO gauge cluster is shown above, displaying 1,894 total miles which are documented by paperwork from new. The M103 3. 0 liter inline-six and automatic transmission have been maintained in stock condition. Underneath, this 300SL still has its factory Cosmoline protectant throughout. The Quicksilver exhaust shown above is the only known mechanical deviation from stock. Documentation for this SL is extensive, going back to when the car was new. Three original keys with their fobs are also included. The accident-free Carfax report begins in 2000 upon import to Texas and shows eight records with no issues reported. Filed under: r107, sl
