Description

This 1961 Porsche 356B 1600 Super was reportedly sold new in Los Angeles, California before making its way to Arizona. By 1981 it had ended up in northern Pennsylvania, where it was restored with a color change to Ruby Red, interior freshening, and installation of a flat-four from a 356 Super 90. This 356 is now being offered with a Porsche CoA, service records since 2004, and a clean Virginia title. The car was on a rotisserie for seven years during the restoration work, which was completed in 1988. Originally delivered in Ivory over Brown Leatherette, it was repainted in a two-stage Sikkens Ruby Red paint during the process. The bonnet seal was recently replaced, causing the hood to sit high. All exterior brightwork is noted to be clean throughout, and the panel gaps appear consistent in these pictures. A soft button-up car cover is included with the sale along with the factory toolkit, jack, Porsche-branded hand towels, and a pair of leather driving gloves. The interior was refinished during the restoration and features the flat Nardi Speedster steering wheel highlighted above. The factory brown upholstery has been swapped for black. All gauges are reported to be in working order, including the VDO clock. A Super 90 flat-four (#89455) was installed shortly after the 1988 cosmetic restoration was completed and is mated to a non-original 4-speed manual transmission (#45133). 1,240 miles ago, the engine was given a complete rebuild and upgraded to 1720cc. It utilizes J&E pistons, Neutek mild street cam, new Weber carburetors, a rebuilt alternator, and more. An auxiliary oil filter with stainless lines has also been added. The Porsche CoA is shown above, and complete service records since 2004 will be included in the sale
