Description

This 1982 Porsche 911SC is an extensively modified sunroof coupe finished in its original shade of Platinum Metallic. Jay Putnam Engineering of Delray Beach, Florida began the cosmetic backdate in 2009 with the addition of fiberglass front fenders, hood, bumpers, and a ducktail. The interior was stripped and fitted with Recaro Pole Position seats and a rear roll bar, as well as RS-style carpets and door panels. A 3.6-liter flat-six was sourced from a 1997 993 and rebuilt before being installed. The 915 5-speed transaxle was rebuilt in 2011 by Targa Engineering of Jupiter, Florida. They also modified the suspension with Bilstein dampers, a larger front sway bar, 26mm rear torsion bars, and more. Around 1,300 miles have been added since the work was completed, and recent servicing included an oil change and a new battery. This SC is now being offered on behalf of the current owner with some records and a clear Florida title in the ownerâ??s name. The cosmetic work started in 2009 with a donor SC that reportedly did not require any body repairs. Fiberglass front flares, hood, bumpers, and ducktail were installed and then repainted in the original Platinum Metallic color. The rear fenders are the stock SC items. The orange decals were added in 2011, and some blemishes in the finish are shown in the gallery. The suspension was upgraded in 2011 with Bilstein sport dampers, a 22mm front sway bar, 26mm rear torsion bars, a strut tower brace, and stiffer bushings. The car was aligned and corner balanced, and it reportedly weighs around 2,250 pounds. Stock 16Ã?7â?³ Fuchs are fitted up front, and custom 17Ã?9.5â?³ Fuchs-style wheels are equipped out back. All have been refinished in orange with a polished lip and wear Continental DW Extreme tires. The interior features Recaro Pole Position seats with cloth Houndstooth inserts, an RS-style carpet set, Rennline floorboards, RS-style door panels with cloth pulls, a rear roll bar, and 5-point harnesses. The dashboard was sourced from a 1973 911 and reupholstered with black felt. The radio, air conditioning, and heater components have all been removed, and an extra fresh air vent was added in place of the clock. The lights, gauges, and switches are reported to function. The odometer shows 98k chassis miles. The 3.6-liter flat-six was reportedly sourced from a European 1997 993 Carrera with a non-OBDII ECU. The engine was subsequently rebuilt and resealed before being installed. The seller notes that the car has been driven around 1,300 since the work was completed. It was serviced in January 2018 with fresh oil and a new battery. In 2011, the 915 5-speed transaxle was rebuilt with a Guard Transmission bearing plate and a Rennshift shift console. A $12k invoice for the work done at Targa Engineering in Jupiter, Florida is shown in the gallery and covers the transmission, suspension, brakes, and more.
