Description
This 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi QV is a 34k mile example finished in Rosso Corsa over black leather that has been with the owner for 22 years. Built in May of 1985, it is a lifelong California car that was garaged by its first owner in Napa until purchased by the seller in 1994. It has resided in the Sacramento area since, and is being sold on behalf of the owner by a board member and Chief Class Judge for the San Francisco Concours division of SCCA. The car is stock with the exception of a custom exhaust and aftermarket CD player, and received a 30k-mile major service with new belts in preparation for this sale. Rosso Corsa paint has been metered and confirmed mostly original apart from on the hood, which was repainted to alleviate minor damage from its support strut. The color matches well and the overall finish is smooth and glossy.Flaws are reportedly limited to a handful of minor stone chips, a small dent just in front of the driverâ??s door, and occasional light swirl marks visible in bright light. Panels display even gaps and the seller believes the car has never been in an accident according to the seller.Hood louvers were added to the quad-cam 308s to aid radiator cooling, and these look straight and deep black along with all other plastic and rubber trim. Retractable headlamps sit flush and operate correctly, while plastic lenses are clear and free of damage. Fresh Bridgestone Potenza RE 760 tires are mounted on the staggered 16â?³ wheels, two of which show minor rash. The orderly front compartment contains an original, never-used Goodyear spare. The rear trunk still holds the factory tool bag,Interior materials present well for their age, with the stock three-spoke Momo wheel and other control surfaces showing nicely. Black leather seats exhibit light wear, looking supple with only slight marking. Veglia instrumentation is clear with cool blue needles. The dash and door panels look nice, and both carpets and protective floor mats have worn well.Converted to R134a refrigerant, the air conditioning system was serviced and charged in June, and is said to function correctly. A 1990s CD player has replaced the original stereo, though all else appears stock. The engine bay looks very clean and is home to the 2926cc four-cam V8. Quattrovalvole cylinder heads were added to improve breathing after the 1980 introduction of Bosch fuel injection. This engine was equipped with Marelli electronic ignition from the factory, and when new made 232 horsepower and 188 lb. ft. in US form. A performance exhaust is said to be the only non-stock item. The original exhaust remains in good shape and is included in the sale.A 30k-mile service was completed 154 miles ago in June of this year at a cost of just over $6k. Performed by European car specialists Salerno Motorsports, the work included all new belts and cam belt tensioners, the A/C service, and fresh plugs, filters, and fluids as detailed in the invoice below. Mechanical, electrical, and other systems were also inspected. The seller says the car runs and shifts smoothly and is aware of no outstanding mechanical issues.Valve cover gaskets, cam seals and shift selector seals were also replaced in June, and the drivetrain is free of notable leaks. Minimal corrosion underneath appears limited to road scrapes and areas of flaking undercoat.Service records date to 1994 and prior work under the first owner reportedly took place at Ferrari of San Francisco. Some of the work performed during the recent service can be seen in the receipt above. The sale includes a set of factory books, tool kit, trouble light, and jack, along with the targa top cover, spare belts and plugs, and other accessories.
