Description

This 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV is a nicely restored driver that benefits from fresh paintwork, upgraded suspension, and a new interior. The car was given a bare-metal repaint, and then had to be partially repainted again due to a rear-end impact shortly after the restoration was completed. The paint used during the initial restoration was used for the repair, ensuring a good match. Wheels are 15â?³ GTA replicas from Classic Alfa. The original 14â?³ wheels are also included. The car appears straight, with correct trim present and good panel gaps throughout. The seller had picked the car up from the paint shop last year and driven it around 1000 miles when he was rear ended at a stoplight. The car was repaired by Skip McCabe, and was fitted with a new right quarter, inner and outer tail panels, trunk lid, and right inner wheelwell. The left rear quarter was pulled out. Photos of the accident and repair can be seen in the gallery. The car is said to have been a complete, rust-free original driver prior to the cosmetic restoration, and areas which are often afflicted with rust on these cars did not need to be repaired. The rockers continue to show well. The interior has been redone with parts from Classic Alfa. The dash is free of cracks and all trim appears present and in good condition. A period-correct Becker Europa II radio from a 1970s Mercedes is fitted. The Brico-Pram cigarette lighter has been swapped out for a modern 12v socket, and the seller has bypassed the dash light dimmer switch. The odometer shows about 78K miles and may have rolled over. The new upholstery was installed by Beal Automotive Upholstery in Chicago. Speakers are fitted in Retro Manufacturing speaker pods in the rear footwell and can be removed. The trunk is tidy, and includes a spare wheel and tire with the original toolkit.A modern Bosch starter has been fitted for faster starting, and a modern alternator with an internal regulator was installed. After being repaired, the seller noted a spongy clutch and has since installed new master and slave cylinders, along with new fluids throughout. The SPICA system is said to be in good order, and the Thermostatic Actuator was just rebuilt by Wes Ingram. The entire system was setup using Wes Ingramâ??s book as well as Alfa Romeo Club documents. The car is said to start easily hot or cold and have a smooth idle. Reproduction stickers were attached to underhood surfaces. The car has been upgraded with Alfaholics Fast Road suspension with Koni Yellow adjustable shocks. Some bushings have been replaced with polyurethane.Underbody surfaces show well, and new suspension components in particular appear clean.
