Description
He has restored the car with a bare metal repaint in the original color, refurbished the red interior, and added a new rear soft window. The matching-numbers flat-four was rebuilt in late 2016 and is paired to a 5-speed manual transaxle. It has been stored inside when not in use since the work was completed. The finish appears to have been applied well, though a chip on the hood, an area of touchup, and a small bit of overspray on the door jamb paint tag and some of the rubber seals are present. Prior to the paintwork, the floors were replaced and the body was sanded to bare metal. The top received a new headliner, and the wheels were fitted with newer Nitto NT450 tires. The glass insert was removed and a soft window kit from Autos International was purchased and installed. The interior has been refurbished with new upholstery, carpets, and dash top. The original stainless dash panel and 5 gauge VDO instrument cluster have not been restored. The odometer shows 9,975 miles and is believed to have rolled over once. He sourced correct year seats and had them reupholstered in the original red color verified by the Porsche CoA. The 916/36 flat-four pushrod engine was rebuilt in late 2016 and has been driven about 500 miles since the work was completed. Power is distributed through the factory 902/1 5-speed manual gearbox. Additional work includes the instillation of a new lightweight flywheel, new shifter bushings, new shocks all around, an alignment, and the brakes were rebuilt. The correct engine #755727 can be seen stamped into the block in the photo above. The number indicates the engine was built late in the production sequence. The Porsche CoA shows the factory options and a build date of June 12, 1967.
