Description
Now showing 62,663 miles, the car has mostly sat since 1995 but was given a service approximately one year ago and currently runs. 4-liter DOHC straight-six and 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. This XK140 reportedly retains its original British Racing Green finish aside from an area of unpainted rust repair at the bottom of driverâ??s wheel well as displayed above. A waterproof cover was used during that time, but trapped moisture caused the paint on the aluminum hood to peel off as detailed in the photo gallery. The car has spent all but five years of its life in California and holds a current registration. Over the years the dual exhaust mufflers were replaced, the exhaust tips were chrome-plated, and the brakes remain in strong condition with silicone DOT-5 fluid. The interior is original down to the factory carpeting, and leather upholstery shows several tears. The original headliner is described to remain in good shape, while all weatherstripping around the windows is in need of replacement. Some spare rubber pieces are included with the sale as detailed in the photo gallery. All instrumentation is reportedly functional aside from the clock. Under the hood, this XK is reported to retain its numbers-matching 3. 4 liter DOHC straight-six and 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The fuel tank was replaced several years ago and the radiator was removed, re-cored, and cleaned years ago. The factory Jaguar data plate is highlighted in the photo gallery. The Laycock de Normanville overdrive worked fine at the time, and the car has been sitting in the garage on skates since. A number of photos in the gallery further detail the underside of the car. A Jaguar Heritage Certificate and a Classic Car Heritage Certificate are included with the sale. As per the above photo, this particular car was manufactured on October 17th, 1955, dispatched on November 8th, and distributed by Hornburg in Los Angeles. The OEM Jaguar tool set sits in a new pouch roll, and extra Jaguar tools are also included. Spares consist of the factory windscreen washer and jar, original air cleaner, side mirrors, a car cover, unused tire chains, and other OEM bits and pieces. New or reproduction versions of the spears over the headlamps, windscreen wipers and arms, license plate light, and accompanying chrome strip also come with the car.
