Description

The twin-plug 3. The suspension has been upgraded with stiffer torsion bars and Koni adjustable shocks, and the car is equipped with a roll bar, 85 liter fuel tank, Hienzemann fire extinguishing system, fiberglass hood, plastic front bumper, fiberglass rear bumper, limited slip differential, and 915 5-speed manual gearbox. The car was owned and likely raced by a privateer team out of Canada in the early and mid 1970s. It is located in New York and sold with an FIA Historic Passport, Swiss title, and importation documentation. The S/T-style modifications are believed to have been undertaken in the 1970s when the car was nearly new. The conversion included metal fenders flares front and rear, which help to house wide front Fuchs and rear Panasport wheels. The car was fully restored about 10 years ago. The conversion also included the correct-type plastic front bumper, fiberglass rear bumper, and fiberglass hood. Additional driving lights are mounted on the hood in color-keyed housings. The suspension has been redone and features Koni adjustable struts and shocks. Adjustable spring plates, heavy duty torsion bars, and new bushings are also fitted. The tires are older and will need to be replaced. The early history is unclear. According to some sources the car was delivered as a 1972 S to Volkswagen of Canadaâ??s sales manager, Peter Menzel, to race in the Shell 4000 Rally Series in 1971. It is known that chassis #9112300056 was owned by the Byztek brothers in Canada, who raced a pair of 911Sâ??s through the early 1970s. It is unknown which events this car participated in, or with what level of success. The interior has been mostly stripped, though some of the stock instrumentation has been retained. An aftermarket tach is fitted and the clock has been removed. An hour meter mounted next to the emergency cutoff switch shows 671 hours. Interior painted surfaces are intact, though some runs are visible under the instrument cluster. A Hienzemann fire suppression system is fitted. The rear cabin is equipped with a triangulated roll bar. A set of OMP harnesses are anchored to the rear seat pans. The original flat-six has been removed in favor of a 3. 0 liter unit that was recently rebuilt by Rennwerke Porsche Ltd. in Elmsford, New York. The engine bay is nicely detailed, with clean painted surfaces and orderly wiring and hose routing. The transmission is the factory 915/02 with Nurburgring gears and a stock limited slip differential. The front trunk is dominated by an 85 liter fuel tank with a central filler. All of the flexible oil and fuel lines are braided stainless. Painted surfaces appear to be in good condition. Chassis #9112300056 started life as a 1972 911S, and the non-original engine appears to be based on a case from a slightly earlier car. The sale includes the Porsche CoA pictured above and an FIA Historic Passport.
