Description

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a 34k-mile example that has been family owned since new and retains its 5.6L 8 cylinder engine and automatic transmission. The car was sold new in Missoula, Montana and the original owner was an elderly woman who passed it to her son after she stopped driving. It comes with its factory hardtop and has just been inspected and serviced by a Mercedes dealership in preparation for sale. The invoice for the recent work and a clean CarFax are provided below along with the original window sticker. The seller says that the car drives exceptionally well.Signal Red paint on this R107 is beleived to be original and looks to be in good condition. The hardtop may be unlatched and removed by two people; the black canvas soft top is in good condition, as shown in the photo gallery. Stock wheels are wrapped with Pirelli P600 tires with around 70% tread remaining. The are some small stone chips on the leading edge of the hood that the seller says are not easily seen. The chrome and rubber trim looks to be well cared-for.Palomino leather interior and carpets are in good condition for their age. The factory stereo is in place and the car has an alarm system. The odometer reads 34,896 miles. Mileages recorded in the CarFax support the mileage and the car has been driven sparingly by the sellerâ??s family since new. Everything on the car reportedly works, including the analog clock and A/C.The 5.6L SOHC 8-cylinder engine was rated at 227 hp @5,200 rpm 287 lb-ft of torque @3,500 rpm. The car tips the scales at 3,650 lbs and power is sent through a 4-speed automatic. The 560 SL was sold in the USA, Canada, Japan, and Australia. The undercarriage, brakes, suspension and exhaust system were inspected by the dealership and there is no mention of any required service or deferred maintenance. The suspension features double wishbones in front, a diagonal swing axle in the rear, front and rear stabilizer bars and coils on all four corners. Additional underbody views are shown in the photo gallery. The CarFax is clean with no accidents reported. (Title transfers shown are from mother to son.)The 560SL had a $61,430 MSRP as detailed on the window sticker above. The soft top was a no-charge option.Included in the sale are all books, manuals, Mercedes tool kit and 3 keys. Maintenance is recorded in the original books.
