Description

This 1968 Ford Mustang fastback was built in 2019 for Steve McQueenâ??s son Chad by Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas with inspiration from the car used in the film Bullitt. The build was featured in an episode of Fast Nâ?? Loud that also replicated portions of the chase scene from the original movie. The car is finished in Highland Green over black vinyl, and power is provided by a modified 390ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes Edelbrock cylinder heads, twin Holley four-barrel carburetors, 15â?³ American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels, a dual exhaust system with MagnaFlow mufflers, a Shelby GT500-style steering wheel, and Classic Instruments gauges. The body was repainted in Highland Green during the Gas Monkey Garage build, while the fuel cap was finished in black and the emblems and side moldings were removed along with the center grille ornament. The finish on the left rear wheel arch was damaged during filming of the reenacted chase scene, reportedly due to tire rub. Gray 15â?³ American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels with polished lips wear replica 9. 20-15 Firestone Indy tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Chassis modifications include welded subframe connectors, heavy-duty springs, and a fabricated tubular steel engine cradle to protect the car during jumps.
