Description

This 1963 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia was converted into a convertible in the 1990s and subsequently featured in the September 1992 issue of Dune Buggies and Hot VWs Magazine. The body is finished in red with a chopped windshield frame, a white soft top, Beetle headlamps, and shaved door handles and trim. Power comes from an air-cooled 2,332cc flat-four equipped with dual Weber IDF carburetors, MSD ignition, an extended capacity oil sump, a Porsche-style cooling fan kit, and a sidewinder-style exhaust system with a MagnaFlow muffler and J-tubes. Additional details include a custom console, a fiberglass dashboard, a Formuling France steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, aftermarket bolstered bucket seats, a Gene Berg shifter, billet door handles and window cranks, a roller accelerator pedal, a Pioneer CD player, and Lanzar amplifiers and speakers. Originally a coupe, the car was converted into a convertible in the 1990s. Additional work included chopping the windshield frame, custom-fitting Beetle headlamps, shaving the trim and door handles, and painting the body and floor pan red. Additional details consist of a color-matched rear bumper, dual side-view mirrors, and a white soft top and boot. Polished 15 Fuchs-style wheels wear full-color Porsche crest center caps and are mounted with 175/65 front and 195/65 rear Sumitomo tires. The car rides on adjustable air dampers and a polished adjustable front axle beam. Stopping power is provided by red-finished calipers over drilled rotors at all four corners.
