Description
This 1987 Porsche 911 is a 3.2L Carrera that has been modified and backdated in the style of â??70s 911 RSR. The seller bought the car approximately four years ago with the bare-metal bodywork already done, and since then has completed the interior and toned down the look by replacing the front bumper and rear decklid. The modifications were intended to evoke an early 911 cosmetically while benefitting from the mechanical improvements of the later cars, with an extensive set of performance enhancements to boot. The car features a very clean custom interior, modified 3.2L engine with headers with GT3 style exhaust, and more detailed below. The backdating effort involved replacing the standard Carrera plastic front and rear bumpers and adding steel 930 style rear fenders, a GT Racing fiberglass long nose kit, and 964 style side skirts. The seller replaced the red front bumper and swapped the rear ducktail spoiler which a 964 style decklid with functional retractable spoiler to refine the aesthetic. Wheels are custom built 17Ã?8 and 17Ã?9 Fuchs, welded up using authentic original Fuchs wheels. The only notable flaw is a small crack in the paint on the driverâ??s front wheel well. The interior has been completely customized with the same â??70s 911 racer theme in mind. The seats are custom built 911R style buckets from Vintage Seats with perforated German leather on the bolsters and black basket weave on the inserts. A lightweight RSR carpet kit is installed, along with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a Hargett Pro G50 shifter.Other interior mods include RS style door pulls, custom basketweave door cards to match the seats, a Retrosound vintage-look radio, and a roll bar. The heater and air conditioner have been removed. Minor issues include a non-functional driverâ??s outside door lock and a slow passenger side power window. The 3.2L Carrera engine was rebuilt around 6200 miles ago with Raceware head studs. The G50 transmission is in good condition with no weak synchros or other issues. There are a number of power, handling, and braking modifications installed including:Steve Wong chipped DMEHeaders with GT3 style exhaustWevo engine mountsHigh torque starterCustom valved Bilstein HD shocksRear coilover conversionWevo camber king strut top mountsElephant Racing PolyBronze bushingsSmart Racing adjustable Sway bars w/ reinforced sway bar mounts935 Adjustable spring platesBump steer kit with Turbo tie rodsSS brake linesHawk HPS brake padsFront drilled and slotted rotorsMotul 600 brake fluidThe owner has receipts for all work done during his ownership, most recently a bill for over $2600 for tune-up and maintenance work at a 911 specialist. There is some mild surface rust on the steel header tubes but otherwise the undercarriage looks very clean. While the history of the car prior to the backdating is largely unknown, there was no evidence of significant accident damage found at the time the car was rebuilt. A clean Florida title is included in the sale. This looks like a cool hot-rod 911 with outstanding performance and a lot of eyeball.Check out the sellerâ??s excellent walkaround video above.Filed under: g50, impact bumper, impact-bumper
