Description
This 1960 Volkswagen Beetle convertible was retrofitted with an electric drivetrain by Dukeâ??s Garage of Westminster, Colorado in 2012. It is powered by two lithium-ion battery packs stored in the front trunk and behind the rear seat that feed a Hi Power Electric Vehicle Systems (HPEVS) AC-50 electric motor paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Finished in red over black vinyl, the car is equipped with a black soft top, front disc brakes, 15â?³ steel wheels, chrome bumpers, dual side mirrors, auxiliary instrumentation, and a CD stereo. Oxidation is noted on the bumpers and the right front fender is scratched. Chrome-finished 15â?³ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps with Wolfsburg crests and are mounted with 165-series Nankang tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl that extends to the door panels. Appointments include a passenger grab handle, lap seatbelts, a roller throttle pedal, and a Bluetooth-capable CD stereo linked to Jensen speakers in the kick panels. The two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket cover and features a Wolfsburg-crest horn button. Instrumentation consists of a 90-mph speedometer, an LCD status screen, and auxiliary gauges for motor speed, amperage, and voltage.
