Description

1930 Ford Model A Nostalgic Hot Rod A professional built traditional nostalgic hot rod coupe - Built to last Professionally built by Shockley Customs, Fort Worth, TX around 2008-10 Originally powered by a Chevrolet LS engine and a 4 speed manual transmission. Built for speed: Owner / builder Jorel Shockley ran 10.79 sec with it on the quarter mile. NOTE: This nostalgic, classic looking rod has only been driven 4000 miles since being built. After sold by Shockley Customs, the second owner had a completely rebuilt 354 cui Hemi installed in 2015 as well as a fully rebuilt TH350 transmission linked with a Hot Heads adapter. (The engine / trans combo has less than 2000 miles on it.) I bought this very well built street rod / hot rod / show rod in December 2020 and put my own personal touch on it to capture a 1960â??s â??show & goâ? look. I wanted to capture the era when hot rods transformed into show rods and street rods. When winning drag races was no longer the only mission and cruising around downtown with your chromed out nicely upholstered rod became a new thing especially in southern California around beaches, drag strips and the local Main street. A lot of people aim for a mid 1950â??s / early 1960â??s look with skinnier wheels, painted steelies, hubcaps and wide white walls. Nothing wrong with that at all, but I wanted something more aggressive with more attitude. Basically - I wanted more Sonics - less Sinatra. That to me meant that I replaced all the wheels / tires & adjusted the stance, the rake. I had the trunk lid louvered and painted as well as getting the coupe pinstriped and outlined / bordered. The shifter and steering wheel was replaced and I sectioned the lower part of the 1932 Ford grille shell to get it more aggressive. I also painted the frame rails, moved the headlights forward, installed dual Pontiac taillights and had a new roof insert upholstered as well as the rear wheel wells. I replaced the front leaf spring to get it lower up front and raised the back by adjusting the coil overs. The blue era - correct metallic paint job is in a very good condition and the pearl white rolls & pleats Naugahyde interior as well. This loud - fast and rebellious fun rod has always been very well taken care of. After I made my own changes on the coupe I have just enjoyed it, and frequently cruise around town as well as taking it for countryside road trips or just downtown for getting my kicks. The Hollywood Howler runs very good and strong, it has less than 2000 miles on it since the completely rebuilt Hemi engine and automatic transmission was installed. I drive it when itâ??s 110 F outside, it loves the freeway but can get a little warm in stand still city traffic. It is a smooth ride, steady on the road, doesnâ??t wander off. The drivability is phenomenal. I sit very comfortably in it with my 5.11ft with one hand loose on the steering wheel at 85mph, the other out the window. This nostalgic looking 354 cui Hemi powered coupe has not caused me any problems what so ever. This model A is a very reliable, functional and fun rod. It is a show stopper and people pleaser looking for new adventures and a good home. Cruise it, show it, race it but don't let it stand still too long. It wasn't built for that. . Chopped 4 ¼â?, channeled 5â? by Shockley Customs, Fort Worth, TX Louvered Rootlieb hood top, and louvered trunk (Seret Speed & Custom, Vallejo, Ca) Firewall (and engine) moved back 10â? for better weight distribution.
