Description

This 1957 Continental Mark II is one of 444 hardtops assembled in the modelâ??s final year and is powered by a 368ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in white over white and blue leather, and equipment includes a limited-slip differential, 15â?³ steel wheels, power steering, an egg-crate grille, a driver-side mirror, an antenna, an AM radio, air conditioning, and a power-adjustable front bench seat. The car was previously on museum display before being listed on BaT in August 2023. Continental was introduced as a stand-alone luxury subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company with the debut of the Mark II at the Paris Motor Show in October 1955. Designed by Fordâ??s Special Product Operations team consisting of William Clay Ford, John Reinhart, Gordon Buehrig, and Harley Copp, the Mark II was offered as the brandâ??s sole model and carried a base price of approximately $10,000. Just 2,994 coupes were produced between 1956 and 1957. Features include a hood ornament, stainless steel trim, dual side-view mirrors, a driver-side taillight that swings away to reveal a fuel filler, and dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear bumper. Imperfections in the finish and areas of previous paintwork around the rear window and quarter panels are noted. The windshield wipers do not work. The 15â?³ steel wheels wear turbine-style covers and are mounted with Coker Classic wide-whitewall radial tires.
