Description

Purchased new in Germany by a woman from Northern California, the car was shipped to the US and eventually passed to her niece. Work included rebuilds of the 1600cc flat-four and 4-speed manual transmission, a bare metal repaint, new interior, and suspension refresh that included installing Koni shocks. Light Ivory (6804) is listed as the factory color, and the repaint was professionally applied by a classic car shop in northern Los Angeles County. Light surface rust was evident in the driver-side pan and battery area, both of which were cleaned, coated, and repaired during the refurbishment. The windshield was replaced and new rubber and seals were fitted all around, while factory wheels wear new tires. A new headliner, insulation, and carpet were professionally installed. The dash pad is reportedly in good original condition, and the gauges and clock were restored by North Hollywood Speedometer. The odometer reads 69,832 miles, though actual mileage is unknown. The 1600cc flat-four was rebuilt about eight years ago and has seen about 5k miles of use since. John Benton of Benton Performance tuned the engine, and the carburetors were refurbished by 356 Carb Rescue. An electronic distributor replaces the vacuum advance, though the factory item is included in the sale. Exhaust components were repainted and refinished during the refresh. The suspension was tuned and new Koni shocks were installed. An included Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the date of completion as 3/12/68, with Light Ivory over Black leatherette as the factory color combo.
