Description
This 1973 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 was purchased new from Laurel Motors in suburban Chicago and remained with the original owners until the seller acquired it from them three months ago. After years as as a daily driver, this 77k miles example was treated to an extensive mechanical and cosmetic overhaul in 2007 that included a full repaint in the original Plum color. The original 2.0L twin cam inline-four sends power through a 5-speed manual transmission to an optional limited slip differential. The seller indicates that a thorough visual inspection revealed no detectable rust or signs of collision repair. This GTV is also said to retain its original sheet metal, glass, and steel wheels. It is sold with its original bill of sale, dealer invoice, and a clean Georgia title. The car has covered only 2000 miles since its 2007 repaint, and the exterior shows consistent color and shine. The seller notes that close inspection reveals some paint checking. The car reportedly drives well, tracks straight on the road, and brakes consistently without fading courtesy of the four wheel discs.According to the original dealer invoice, the only option is a limited slip differential. The original seats have been dyed, and appear clean and unmarked. Seat foams are reported to remain supportive, though threads have been lost from the pleats. New door panels and carpets were fitted during the 2007 refresh, and photos show no signs of wear. The wood rimmed steering wheel, headliner, dash, and balance of the interior are stated to be original. Following a thorough inspection, the seller confirms all gauges are functioning, as are all features controlled by the typical array of Alfa knobs, levers, and toggle switches. The dash has cracked in areas adjacent to the vents, and the seller also notes that the passenger door stay is broken. The trunk appears solid with limited surface corrosion and a few spots where the paint has begun to flake. The original jack and tools are included. The original 2.0L twin cam inline-four sits in a tidy engine compartment. The engine, hoses, wiring, ancillaries, and paint show no signs of leaks or corrosion, reflecting the low miles driven since the refurbishment. This work included a top end refresh and rebuild of the original SPICA mechanical fuel injection.Engine #ArO150004459 can be seen above and is confirmed as original by the dealer invoice.Records of the 2007 mechanical work also indicate an overhaul of clutch, brakes, and suspension using original parts where possible. The previous seller indicates the 5-speed gearbox was also rebuilt in 2007, and that it operates smoothly without the common 2nd gear issues.
