Description
It was ordered by a Seattle, Washington couple and remained with them until 1995. Power is provided by a 289ci HiPo V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and both the engine and supercharger were rebuilt in 2014. The continuation series was envisioned by Shelby as he sought a replacement car in the late 1970s. Under the direction of Shelby project manager Al Dowd, the cars were built to largely original specifications by J. Brunk using 1966 Mustang convertible shells. Each of the continuation GT350s was finished in combinations of blue and white, and 6S2389 was ordered in its current color scheme of Wimbledon White with blue Le Mans stripes and side stripes. The dark blue power convertible top is a Haartz replacement and features a glass rear window. Shelby 14â? 10-spoke aluminum wheels wear white-letter BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The brake system incorporates the same setup as original 1966 GT350, with Kelsey-Hayes disc units up front and drums out back. The suspension design was also retained on continuation cars, with an independent front setup with coil springs and a live-axle rear with leaf springs, as well as Koni shock absorbers all around.
