Description
Subsequent work included replacing the three-speed automatic transaxle and the front and rear hydraulic spheres in addition to rebuilding the driveshafts and front brake calipers. The car is powered by a 3. 0-liter V6 and is finished in gold over tobacco leather. Features include 15â?³ steel wheels, a hydropneumatic suspension, self-centering power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, a power antenna, an AM/FM stereo, power windows, and front bucket seats. Styled by Citroënâ??s chief designer Robert Opron, the SM debuted in 1970 sporting tapered bodywork with a narrowed rear track and a Kamm tail. Paint imperfections are noted on the driverâ??s door and fenders. The 15â?³ steel wheels wear covers and are mounted with Geostar Remex tires, and braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner. The car is equipped with self-centering power steering and rides on a self-leveling and height-adjustable hydropneumatic suspension with parallel semi-trailing arms up front and trailing arms out back. The front brake calipers were rebuilt in 2014, and the suspension boots were replaced at that time. The suspension spheres were reportedly replaced in 2023 along with the main accumulator, and work in 2024 involved rebuilding the steering rack.
