Description
This euro example was originally sold new in Dusseldorf, Germany to Hans Derichs. The car retains its original owners manuals and dealer stamped service booklet. Once it was imported to the United States the owner serviced it regularly in the late 70s's to the late 90's when it went into storage. It sports a re-spray of its original 717 Papyrus White. Being an early European example of the 6.3L V8 this 300SEL has the more desirable 9:1 high compression engine. Since I took ownership of the car I have done the following to it: Flushed brake system Flushed power steering system Fresh engine oil and filter Rebuilt brake calipers New brake hoses Re-cored radiator and oil cooler New upper radiator hose New radiator cap New brake master cylinder reservoir New main air tank valve All 4 air valves rebuilt Wew air bellows New tires I have not spent much time with the car but I have noted a number of things about it and will do my best to describe all the flaws and operational items. The radio, sunroof and all windows work except for the rear passenger window. The car sports desirable options such as rear defrost, sunroof and AC. It is a bit unique to sees a high compression euro model with both AC and sunroof. It also has nice Sisal protective floor mats and the neat Fire Extinguisher option below the drivers seat. I think this was a requirement to have one on board in certain European countries. Since the air suspension has been completely gone through, it never drops an inch. I have had it sit in my garage for 6 months and it doesn't budge.
