Description

This 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo has just under 60k miles and is powered by its believed-original turbocharged 3. 3 liter flat-six paired to a 4-speed gearbox. Service has been limited to new tensioners at 30k miles along with regular tune-ups and oil changes. Black paint presents well with the finish holding a deep and glossy appearance in photos. The work was done by Ritchâ??s Body Shop in Incline Village. The glass is clean and clear with no damage to the factory tint. Note the larger cooling area on the rear spoiler that feeds air directly into the intercooler. The exterior rubber on the spoiler and other areas has benefited from a lifetime of being garaged and is in good shape with no cracks, fading, or distortion. The stock suspension features the front-end geometry and cast aluminum rear trailing arms taken from the previous RSR models. The braking system was developed from the 917, with ventilated and cross-drilled discs gripped by 4-piston calipers. The staggered 16â?³ Fuchs appear to be in good condition and wear newer Toyo tires with good tread left. The black leather interior is well-preserved, though the dash has some warping around the vents that is visible in photos. Original carpeting has been protected under the floormats and appears clean and taut. The optional black headliner has no tears or blemishes, and all of the gauges and switchgear are functioning properly. Optional sport seats show some mild wear on the driver-side but look to be in good condition overall. The turbocharged 3. 3 liter flat-six is fitted with an air-to-air intercooler that helped it produce 261 horsepower when new. The chain tensioners were replaced at 30k miles, while tune-ups and oil/filter changes have occurred at regular intervals. All the mechanical work has been done by Euro Tech Limited in Incline Village and Reno Rennsport. Engine #6890509 can be seen in photos and is believed to be the original unit. The 6 indicates a six-cylinder engine, with 8 standing for the turbo version. The 9 verifies that it was produced in 1979 with numbers 0509 being the production sequence. 1979 models still carried a 930 chassis number. The 9 stands for the year, 8 indicates a NA spec 911 Turbo, 0 meaning a coupe version, and 0696 being the serial number verifying it was built in July, 1979. Underside pictures show surface corrosion on some of the exhaust and engine components as can be seen in the image above. An additional set of three new wiper blades, touch-up paint that has never been opened, and some original accessories also come with the car. Filed under: 911 turbo, 930, 930 turbo
