Description
This 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 has 139k miles and is an NAS hardtop wagon that is #276 of 300 final Limited Edition models produced for the US. Power is from a 4. 0-liter V8 mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission, and upgrades include Old Man Emu suspension, soundproofing, and a carpet kit. Surface corrosion was reportedly removed from aluminum bodywork and new sills were installed before the recent repaint in original Willow Green, the sole color available for Limited Edition NAS D90s. Stock 5-spoke wheels wear newer 16â?³ Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac light truck tires and include a matching rear-mounted spare. Limited Edition D90s came with a roof rack and ladder mounted on the stock â??safariâ? cage, as well as twin-tube running boards. Aluminum diamond plate was also provided in the front fenders and rear quarters, and photos show the body with and without a matching set of sill covers. A stock non-LE front unit has replaced a formerly mounted winch bumper, and aftermarket bumperettes are substituted for the stock tube bumper out back. New taillamps and brake lights have been installed along with a LED headlight conversion up front. The rear door hardware has recently been replaced, and stainless fasteners have been installed throughout. Front seats wear factory-style covers and all four rear foldaway seats are present along with stock hardtop-specific door panels. Side windows have been updated with a Garrison Outfitters kit to prevent rattling, and the truck is described as quiet inside thanks to soundproofing insulation and a new Exmoor carpet kit. Some delamination is described on the headliner above. The steering wheel is a leather-wrapped Land Rover item and other simple controls and switchgear show some wear. The speedometer was repaired to address a blinking odometer in February. A new stereo in the center console feeds an aftermarket amplifier and speakers in factory locations, and accessory rocker switches are mounted in the dash. The HVAC system benefits from a new blower motor, air conditioning compressor, and hoses. A new battery resides in an upgraded stainless box under the driverâ??s seat. Power for the 1997 NAS D90s was from an improved 4. 0-liter aluminum V8. A service by Land Rover specialists British Car Service in Los Angeles took place in the fall of 2015 and included installation of upgraded oil cooler lines, new intake manifold, valve cover gaskets, oxygen sensor, replacement motor mounts, and a new serpentine belt. The fuel tank breather and filler neck were replaced and a new Magnaflow exhaust was also installed. An electronic 4-speed ZF automatic was the only transmission option for 1997 and is linked to a full-time 4Ã?4 driveline featuring a resealed two-speed transfer case and a lockable center differential. New shock towers have been installed and suspension from Old Man Emu was fitted in July 2016 along with a new steering damper. Both front axle swivels were rebuilt, and hub seals, tie rods, rear sway bar, and end links are new items. Four-wheel disc brakes received new rear calipers and pads. Underbody photos detail the new suspension and chassis parts as well as showing an add-on skid plate. A clean AutoCheck report is also viewable in the gallery and shows no accidents, thefts, or other issues through 2014.
