Description

This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is accompanied by a thorough paper trail of records and service receipts dating back to when the car was new, which are fully displayed here. The car has just 47,283 total documented miles and is reported to be a numbers-matching car with its original body, chassis, 2. 9-liter inline six-cylinder engine, and 4-speed overdrive gearbox in place. With one known repaint and regular servicing throughout the years, this Healey has been preserved in factory specification and resided in Washington state since 1972/3. The car is now being sold with all of its all original records, books, emergency equipment, weather protection, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate confirming matching-numbers, and a clean Texas title. Chassis #38507 was built October 12-17, 1966 and dispatched on the 21st for Chicago, Illinois finished in Healey Blue with Blue trim and a Blue hood. Factory equipment included wire wheels, a heater, adjustable steering column, whitewall tires, a blue tonneau cover, laminated windscreen, and the 4-speed overdrive gearbox. It was purchased new at Towne & Countree Auto Sales of Highland, Indiana by local resident Lee McCorkle on January 7, 1967. It was regularly serviced at Towne & Countree throughout the early years with work from other facilities provided later on as detailed in the history file. The McCorkle family moved to Washington state in 1972/73 and the Healey changed hands on March 13, 1978 to Allen L. Schwenker. Richard Hughes was the next caretaker in October 1984, purchasing the car from Sutherland Motors in Spokane, Washington. Mr. Hughes owned #38507 until late March 1991. Randall Gould of Everette, Washington purchased it from Coronado Classics in October 1991 for $20,000 + TT&L. Randy cared for the vehicle until July 2006 when it was sold to a Mr. Larson of Seattle, who looked after the car for 10 years. The last generation of the â??Big Healeyâ? incorporated styling enhancements including a wraparound windscreen, and doors now with roll-down windows instead of side-curtains. A removable rear-window panel was also featured and handling was improved thanks to a stiffer front anti-roll bar and modified shock settings. The car reportedly displays an honest patina throughout with one known repaint. It has never been fully restored but rather maintained and updated as needed throughout the years. As such, the car appears to have been kept in largely factory specification throughout. Inside, the cabin display nicely-preserved vinyl upholstery and a clean factory boot cover. Itâ??s believed the carpet was freshened at the time of the repaint many years ago. The current mileage of 47,283 is accurate and documented via complete service records from new. This Healey is powered by a 2. 9-liter inline six-cylinder engine quoted to produce 148 horsepower and coupled to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. In February 2017 the car received a routine tune-up including new fluids, filters, ignition consumables, rebuilding of the carburetors and brake cylinders, various gaskets, sway bar bushings, fuel level sending unit, washer pump, wiper blades and a new stainless steel Mk. II exhaust system. Many undercarriage and chassis pictures have been provided. This BJ8 is being offered complete with its original Drivers-Handbook, BMC Instruction Manual envelope, radio tag + Installation and Operating Instructions booklet, the convertible top and matching boot cover, full-cab tonneau cover, emergency equipment, and spare tire assembly.
