Description
Now showing 225k miles, the car was fitted with a replacement S38 inline-six less than 1k miles ago. Modifications consist of aluminum control arms, M-Technics springs, and Bilstein shocks, as well as Euro-spec bumpers, grilles, and lights. Euro-spec bumpers, grilles, headlights, and chin spoiler have been installed along with chrome door trim to match the chrome bumpers. The installation was performed by shaving frame rails to European spec in the front and replacing the rear panel with a Euro-spec firewall behind the rear bumper. Paint on the hood roof, and driverâ??s rear door panels is original, and was blended on other panels with the installation of the European bumpers. The finish shows a few chips and scratches along with some swirl marks in direct light. 16â?³ BBS RS basketweaves wear 225/50ZR BF Goodrich G-Force Rival tires. The black leather interior is a rare feature, as most E28 M5s wore tan. Factory features include heated power seats, a premium sound package, and dash-mounted driving computer. A Denon head unit has been added along with a trunk-mounted Brax amp and 12â?³subwoofer, though the radio is a Japanese-market item that does not receive US frequencies. A UUC EVO3 shifter with OEM shift selector was installed at 210k miles, with shift bushings replaced at that time. Some creasing and bolster deformation can be seen in the leather upholstery, though no rips or seam separations are visible. The 3,453cc S38 B35 inline six-cylinder motor is a replacement unit with 96k total miles. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag G280 5-speed manual transmission, and the clutch and flywheel were inspected when the rebuilt engine was installed. A complete factory tool kit resides beneath the deck lid and is shown above. Included records date back to 2003. Upper control arms were replaced and Wokke spherical bearings installed. Aluminum lower control arms were sourced from an 840ci, and the rear subframe, control arms, and rear trailing arms also received new bushings. A used steering box 140k miles of use was installed. Braking has been enhanced with 840ci Brembo front calipers and rotors, and the rears were adapted from an E34 M5. Porterfield RS4 brake pads have been installed all around. The original S38 B35 engine has been preserved and is included in the sale along with the factory exhaust with black tips. Filed under: 5 series, 5-series, e28, e28 m5
