Description
This 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback received a major refurbishment around 2000 and has covered about 6k miles since. Finished in Nightmist Blue with Blue and White Luxury interior, the car is believed to have received the optional factory GT Equipment Group. The 289ci HiPo V8 is paired with a replacement 4-speed manual and an optional limited-slip differential. Regularly maintained by Urban Classics in Brooklyn, New York, services in April 2016 included an oil/filter change, and new rocker cover gaskets. Prior refurbishment included taking the car to bare metal, with new sheet metal added on the cowl and possibly new floor pans. Photos of this work in progress are included in the sale. Matching VINs remain in two locations on the driverâ??s front fender, and once on passenger side inner front wing. A reproduction invoice shows this 2+2 was optioned with K-Code 289ci V8, 4-speed manual, limited-slip differential, AM radio, Luxury (Pony) interior, and the GT Equipment Group. The original mechanical regulator and stock headers are included in the sale. Fastback production totaled 35,698 for 1966, or about 6% of all Mustangs built. Only 5,469 1966 Mustangs of all body styles were delivered with the K-Code engine option. The Blue and White Pony interior (62) is thought to have been retained during earlier refurbishment work. A Cobra-style steering wheel with slotted spokes has replaced the original piece. The 5-digit odometer shows 5,600 miles, with true mileage unknown. This HiPo V8 delivered 271 hp when new and is believed to be original. Although there is no VIN stamping, an engineering stamp with casting date code is found under the intake manifold. The carb is a replacement item of the correct type. This original Ford build sheet was found during the refresh. The VIN decodes to show:6 â?? 1966 Model yearT â??
