Description

of Washington, DC on August 29, 1958 as one of 191 convertibles produced for the model year. Power comes from a 392ci FirePower Hemi V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and features include a black soft top as well as a heater and a factory MusicMaster radio that was rebuilt with an auxiliary cable. Brake work was carried out in the last six months along with an oil change and replacement of the battery. Virgil Exnerâ??s Forward Look design language from the 1957 300C was carried over for the 1958-only 300D, with exterior modifications limited to revised taillights, a new windshield header, and four headlights standard on all cars. The power-operated black soft top features a plastic rear window and is photographed both raised and lowered. Steel wheels feature chrome hubcaps with painted inserts and are mounted with wide-whitewall tires. Power-assisted steering and brakes were standard equipment on the 300D, and service on the latter in 2019 included cutting the front drums, adjustment, and a fluid flush. The 300D rode on a 126â?³ wheelbase and featured torsion-bar front suspension. The interior has been reupholstered in tan with ivory seat inserts as well as a black dash pad and carpeting. Features include a heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a factory MusicMaster radio that was rebuilt to include an auxiliary input cable and receive AM/FM transmissions.
