Description

This 1984 Porsche 911 started out as a factory M491 Turbo Look example and has been extensively modified and backdated into an RSR-tribute. The car had just 48k miles when the seller acquired it three and a half years ago, and the cosmetic and mechanical modifications are extensive. The twin-plug 3.4L flat-six received a top end rebuild from Jae Lee at Mirage International and is paired to a professionally rebuilt 5-speed manual with a limited slip differential. The suspension and brakes have been upgraded with new OEM 930 calipers, Bilstein HD struts, 19/26 torsion bars, a bump steer kit, and more as detailed below. The car has been driven less than 500 miles since the work was completed, and it was awarded first in class at the PCA Werk Reunion at Monterey and was featured by Porsche at the Quail Lodge. This RSR recreation is now offered with complete records and photo documentation of build, a Porsche CoA, a clean AutoCheck.Though based on a factory Turbo-Look car, this 911 required extensive metal work to arrive at its present shape. San Diego Rod and Custom welded all mirror, windshield washer jet, rocker cover, and antenna holes, along with the fuel filler door. This 911 was originally fitted with a sunroof, but a filler panel was fabricated using an English wheel and welded in place. The hood is original, but has been fitted with a welded-on extension to create the long hood. The underside has been finished to look like a factory piece and the fuel filler exits through the hood. The headlights feature new Porsche European lenses and H4 lights with yellow SWB lenses. The PPG 2-stage Orange is similar to Signal Orange and was applied over a white basecoat. The underside and interior body panels were sprayed with tintable bedliner. All of the rubber gaskets and seals have been replaced, and all exterior trim is either chrome plated, polished aluminum, or polished stainless steel. The Braid BZ 15 Fuch-style wheels measure 9 wide at the front and 11 wide at the rear, and are fitted with Michelin TB15 tires.Interior modifications include early-style sport seats in black vinyl with houndstooth inserts and charcoal-colored carpet. The dash is a custom one-piece Rennline item modified to accept stock knee pads and ashtray. The glovebox, radio, and HVAC controls have been deleted, the latter now includes just a defrost switch hidden in the ashtray with powers a fresh air blower to the defrost vents. The A and B pillars are wrapped in black leather, as is the refurbished 380mm 914 steering wheel with hockey-puck horn button. The gauge fascia was modified, and all holes were filled so the panel could be painted body color rather than wrapped in black leather. The gauges are original, working, and were rebuilt. The odometer has been reset, but the seller has documentation of the previous 48k mileage.Because of the low mileage the seller opted to not split the case for the engine build. Mirage International rebuilt the top end of the motor, and the car is now produces 262 rear wheel horsepower at 6,700 rpm as conformed by the included dyno sheet. Final weight is said to be 2,451 pounds, and the engine and chassis build includes the following:EngineNew rod bearings and ARP rod boltsCylinders sent to EBS racing for boring and replating with NikasilNew JE pistons giving 11:1 compressionHeads sent to Ollies for twin-plug conversion and valve jobNew AASCO valve springs and titanium retainersNew steel head studsCustom Viton gaskets throughoutEngine balanced and blueprintedDC40 camsRarly Late stainless steel header, exhaust and RSR style mufflerDual oil coolers, front center and right front fender mountedRothsport inline check valveCarb and engine tuning by Mark Kinninger at Black Forest
