Description
This 1989 Ferrari 348 was originally a US-market car that was first registered in New York in 1990, left North America for Japan in 1993, and was ultimately imported back into Canada by me 5 years ago. While in Japan the car had its black lower body panels color-matched to the rest of the exterior. The 3.4L DOHC V8 is paired to a dogleg 5-speed manual gearbox and has been fitted with a a stainless steel aftermarket exhaust. Other modifications include Quantum Racing coilovers and Speedline wheels. Per the Japanese import documentation, this 348 was not involved in an accident and did not receive any replacement body panels during its 22 years in Japan. The previous owner did have the black lower bodywork refinished in red to match the rest of the car, and per the seller the work was done to a high standard with no apparent overspray. The chin spoiler and rear valence would also have been black in 1989, and they appear to have received the same high quality repaint as the skirts. The 18â?³ Speedline wheels are fitted with Pirelli tires in the correct sizes. Though the tires have good tread, they are older and should be replaced before the car is used regularly. The interior is unmodified and in fairly good overall cosmetic condition. Apart from the fuel gauge, all interior features are said to be working as they should. The 348 was among the last Ferraris to use a dogleg 5-speed manual. The driverâ??s seat shows wear on its outer bolsters and some looseness in the lower cushion. The material handbrake cover, console, and passenger seat appear to be in better condition. The dry-sump 3.4L DOHC V8 is unmodified apart from a stainless steel exhaust. The inner wheel wells are partially open to the engine bay in a 348, accounting for the slightly dusty appearance. The Quantum Racing coilovers appear to be a recent addition, and the powdercoated finish on the shock body is in good condition. The underside of the car appears clean and straight, with some scuffing evident on the bottom of the engine cradle and a piece of the undertray that extends of the rear of the cabin floor.
