Description
This one is stock and unmodified with 34k documented miles from new and comes with a clean Carfax report. It was sold new in May 1995 to baseball player Ozzie Guillen, who kept the car until 2008 when it was acquired by the seller. The limited production CSI featured the tuned S70 V12 engine with an increased capacity to 5.6L and a power output around 380HP/400 ft-lbs over the standard 5.0L 300HP M70 found in the base 850i. This is an excellent low mileage example that is taken to shows regularly and was recently awarded â??Best Touring German Carâ? at the 2015 Greenwich Concours dâ??Elegance. It is in top shape with recent service.Only 1510 850CSIs were produced worldwide between 1992-1996, and just 225 were produced for the North American market. This is #211 of 225 finished in attractive Alpine White. Paint finish is mostly original and remains in excellent condition. The nose and passenger fender has been repainted due to small paint chips. Guillen played for the Chicago White Sox and also had a residence in Florida, the detailed Carfax viewable below showing that he primarily kept the car in Florida until it was purchased by the New York-based seller in 2008.Guillen traded the car in to a Chicago BMW dealer from whom the seller purchased it. He has logged around 2000 miles behind the wheel, driving it only in summer months and always keeping it stored in his heated garage. It was featured in a 2014 Roundel Magazine article viewable below. In addition to winning its class at the Greenwich Concours, it was also awarded Best in Class at the 2010 Lime Rock Sunday in the Park, and Best Classic Car at the 2013 Rallye BMW Motorsports Show.Two-tone gray leather interior is in excellent condition commensurate with the low miles. Everything works including cold A/C and all power accessories are functional. Guillen had installed an aftermarket stereo which the seller immediately replaced with an OEM unit. Factory accessory 850CSi floormats protect the well-preserved original carpet, and a manual transmission is cool to see in any 8-series interior. The S70 engine was engineered with lightweight pistons, performance cam, and other factory upgrades to achieve a significant power increase over the standard M70. The car also received sport suspension and better brakes.
