Description
The numbers-matching 1,600cc L16 inline-four is fitted with flat-top pistons and a Nissan Competition dual-point distributor, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Steel rear fender flares were reportedly added at this time, along with fiberglass flared front fenders, hood pins, and a ducted BRE Spook front spoiler. Black vinyl stripe graphics were applied to the body, while the BRE metal C-pillar emblems were temporarily affixed for photos and are included in the sale. American Racing Libre four-spoke wheels are mounted with a set of period Goodyear Polyglas Wide-Tread tires. The car is reportedly equipped with an Interpart Mulholland suspension system, which includes Koni dampers, lowering springs, and a set of stabilizer bars. The front brake rotors were recently resurfaced, and a set of Rota street wheels with newer tires is included in the sale. The modifications that have been added to this car are intended to replicate a period Trans-Am Decor Package, which was to be offered by Interpart. The cabin features red vinyl upholstery with matching door panels and red replacement carpets. A Datsun-branded Hitachi radio is fitted in the dash, and modifications include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a center console, a BRE shift knob, and a BRE glovebox badge. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and fuel and temperature gauges.
