Description
car is solid underneath, including trunk, floors, rockers, quarters, etc. I donâ??t see any evidence of welded in replacement panels, the underside of the body looks uncut. Car has had a prior frame off restoration in the late 90s.The ideal buyer for this car is someone who wants an economical classic to enjoy and cruise in. Being an older restoration it is ready to be driven and enjoyed as is without having to be afraid to drive it. Wherever I drive this thing it makes people happy. No charm out there like an old convertible. If youâ??re looking for a perfect car, this is probably the wrong car. This car is a handsome weekend driver quality car. This car was restored around 20 years ago, little imperfections are present, and a few small fixes are needed to make the car perfect. That being said, it hasnâ??t had tons of miles put on it, and it has always been stored indoors under a cover, so it still looks very nice. You can hop in and drive it as is.New battery last yearoriginal 6v system.Flathead v8 engine which runs smooth, no strange noises or smoke out the tailpipe.I had the stock manual transmission rebuilt with receipt. The flywheel was resurfaced and and car has a remanufactured stock style clutch.Brakes work fine.I would describe this as a running and driving minor project car. It isnâ??t quite ready to hop in and drive across country (for that you might want new tires, and fresh belts), but I would hop in and go for a family cruise. In fact, I took it on a 50 mile top down family cruise yesterday with no trouble.Update, I took the car out July 3rd for another 50+ mile top down cruise with no issues. Interior has been redone at some point, some wear and flaws consistent with an older restoration.I have stored it under cover in my garage.High quality cover is included. The car has a power top, the original ford lift pump was professionally rebuilt but I have not had time to reinstall it. The lift struts for the top are new and the hydraulic lines are new. Right now the top folds up and down manually. I drive it only with the top down, so it hasnâ??t been a big priority for me. The top material is in excellent condition. The convertible top frame is assembled using cast metal joints. One is cracked, a reproduction made of aircraft aluminum (cost $375) is included with the sale. This needs to be installed. Also included in the convertible top repair and maintenance manual for this car, which describes all the elements of the system, and a supplier for any parts in the future.Protective boot to cover the top when it is down is included. The quarter windows lifts are worn. Reproduction lift gears are provided for both ($129) The quarter windows go up and down but they require help with your hand and some care. I was planning to install the new gears but havenâ??t gotten it done yet due to only driving with the top down. The door windows and wing windows work well.
